Artist Statement Born in the Dominican Republic in 1979, I moved to the U.S. as a baby but frequented Santo Domingo throughout my life. I grew up in Miami and moved to Tallahassee in 1998 to attend FSU. While here I pursued art and humanities in school and film on my free time. I focused too much on the latter which caused me to neglect my studies. My film partner betrayed me in 1999, which caused me to have to start the film over from scratch. Not being able to afford this, I sunk in self-medicating. Unfortunately, through my own mistakes, artistic and alcoholic, I never finished school. Two years later once again disaster struck, my accumulated art, writing, and poetry of five year was burned. Seven years ago after long bout of depression, numbed by alcohol, I came out of a self-imposed dry spell and started creating again. With my determination resolved, I am pursuing my goals in art, business, and film with the lessons of the past and vision for the future. My art is and always has been influenced by the surreal, the macbre, and the sensual.
