Description Lenin's statue -- initially dumped lying face up in a field behind the old kitchen at Mogosoaia Castle after the 1989 Romanian revolution -- now lies, more ignominiously, facing downward. The statue was erected in 1960 in Piata Presei Libere (Free Press Square or 'Casa Scinteii', as it was previously known) in Bucharest, Romania. Scinteia was the name of the Romanian Communist Party newspaper.
