Description Kilmacduagh, a monastic settlement near Kinvara. It was reportedly founded by St. Colman MacDuagh early in the seventh century. The now roofless cathedral, or Teampall, in the right of the photo dates from the eleventh century and was probably built to replace the original wooden structure. The round tower in the left of the photo was a place of refuge for monks in the event of attacks and dates from the twelfth century
