Artist Statement I remember clearly the first time "I Took a picture" I was 5 years old, my father took me with him to take pictures of a volcano " El Izalco" It was erupting and from a mountain about 8 miles away , it could be hear felt and seen lighting the night , and throwing enormus rocks, the size of a city block, that went as an explosion of tracer bullets, miles up. ....after that silence, the most silent silence I ever heard, lava oozing like red gold down the slopes of the enormous cone and.....fifteen or twenty minutes later a deep rumble anounced the next eruption, the ground started to shake and tremble and...... for a half a minute the center of the earht came rushing to the surface and its red orange glow is fifty years later still on my mind......
My fathers big format camera was on a tripod and all set up, when the eruption was on its cosmic climax , he will say ¡ NOW ! .....My job was to stop shaking for a moment and.... trip the shutter, every picture we took that incredible night was "the picture I took".
My love for photography had started, it is still going on strong.....
