Kay Kalar, Fallbrook Member Since August 2021 Artist Statement Home is the charming small art town of Fallbrook, California. I have been painting for forty years, taking workshops and classes from many of the top artists in the country and have spent many hours of self study with books, DVDs, and experimentation. My studies continue: I love to learn, experiment, create and share. For the last ten years I have taught watercolor painting in classes and workshops throughout Southern California. I love to teach and have developed close friendships with my artist-students. My favorite mediums are watercolor, oil and pastel. The natural beauty of Southern California has inspired paintings in the plein air style of the old California impressionists. I love to get to know a person or subject up close and personal, to discover all the unique nuances that make one interesting. My paintings are known for their bold color, sensuous flowing shapes, strong confident brushwork, and strong composition. I live and paint with enthusiasm and joy! I hope to convey my love of life and my deep faith through my work. I long to communicate heart to heart through my paintings.
