Artist Statement London based Poet, Lyricist, artist & Photographer, Jacqueline Doherty aka Claudia Flaxton a published Poet, with the International Society of Poets. Photographer, Diploma 04. After a number of years writing screenplays and poetry for fun, she decided to take her poems and turn them into songs. She set to work with artists that could add melody to her words, Nick being the one with whom she has worked the most, up to the point where they can now call themselves a creative duo. All songs written by Nick Schinder (music) and Jacqui Doherty (lyrics), except “Elephant & Castle” (lyrics & music by Nick Schinder)

Often Deep River Running are asked, what is the resonance of their name?
Jacqui: 'after watching a TV show on the Navajo Indian, Native American tribe, I felt that the manta & the spiritual consciousness of the Navajo people struck a chord within myself, I declared that if I was a Navajo Indian - I would be called ''Deep River Running!'''
After telling this to Nick, they both agreed that Deep River Running would be a perfect band name for their newly formed band after deciding to move forward from working on the Flaxton project.
That said, they both turned into eagles, and flew back to their homes...

When under human shape, Jacqui & Nick can be often found sitting in a well known American coffee house in Camden - listening on Nick's ipod to their latest tune.
Jacqui: 'we like to meet in Camden after Nick has finished putting all the final touches on the track - we have a coffee & give the new song an airing to ourselves.'

Nick & Jacqui agree that the name Deep River Running, 'reflects well our attitude & style of music.'
