Description Mabry Mill, built c.1910 near the present day Blue Ridge Parkway that extends from Virginia's Shenandoah National Park to the North Carolina side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is unique in that it was built on top of the mountain to serve the 'Mountain Folks' rather than down in the lower valleys where, as with most mills, they had better access to the drop in elevation of falling streams for waterpower and a larger farming population to grind for and to sell product to a bigger general public.Shot near the peak of autumn on large color transparency film, the print is crisp and sharp with rich, satutrated fall colors and a near perfect reflection on the still millpond. Also beautiful with a top white matboard or with a cherry/mahogany frame with a deep 'reddish' tone.
