Artist Statement I have been a photographer for
37 years,I love it, And I live for it,I was born a child to the 1950's and my happiest memories are of the beautiful black and white images that I would see on the television. Everything then was straightforward and uncomplicated.
The photograph, for me, is a composite of two parts: the one I dream about and use to alter my moods during the day, and the one based in reality that which I must control and manipulate.
I am a happy devotee of the power of the black and white image. Yet, when I do journey into color it’s as if I have saved up my allowance and gone on vacation.
The image we see when we first look at a gesture, a shadow, a beam of light, or a glance from a person on the street is a heart pounding moment. But by the time we start to formulate what it is, or what it might be, its gone. My mission is to capture that moment. It is to seize that instant when we look from the corner of the eye, while mind comprehends, and to be able to make that moment physical so that we can examine it forever.
I love contrast; I’m a contrast junkie. On the other hand, much of my work depends on variation of light.
In my career I spent my most of my time building books and portfolios for models from Ford, Elite, Zoli, Legends, Sue Charney, Click, Elite, and many more. I have been published in editorial and fashion periodicals throughout my career. I have also toured Europe and Asia with The United States wheel Chair Team at their Olympics.
