Description Pointed red rock formations stretch into the night sky as the Milky Way seems to emanate from them like a trail of purple smoke.Details: this image was taken on a moonless night in the Paint Mines Interpretive Park near Calhan, Colorado. The 25-second exposure captured the details of the Milky Way while the 'smokestacks' were painted with a light for only a moment to reveal their details and color.
