Description Modern Bride: Crucified with ChristModern Bride is a prophetic illustration of a generation of people that are rising up in this hour. She represents those from diverse backgrounds who have in some way been beaten down, oppressed and rejected. They look different. They act different. They worship different and are now rising up to become the glorious warriors God has created then to be. Those who have been forgiven much love much. The Modern Bride desires to go beyond the veil into the depths of the Holy of Holies. Behind her stand faceless fair maidens, most of which are content to remain in the outer courts. As some rejoice over her, others seem to stand and judge her through their carnal and religious perceptions. Spikes, chains, tattoos, and wild purple hair imply to many that she is immoral and unruly. Unwilling to be conformed to religious legality, she is mocked with a crown of thorns. The Lord, however, looks beyond the surface and perceives her unique and creative inner beauty. He also knows the many trials and tribulations that she has suffered in the world as well as in her pursuit to fully know Him.Gripping a white flag, she bows her knee in total surrender. She has laid down her life that she may bare the marks of Christ in her own body. The Lord draws back His curtain and calls her to rise up. Reflecting His character, she has shown that she is willing to leave herself behind. Through the fires of refining, her garments have been made spotless and white. She has ravished His heart and He has chosen her for His Bride. 2003 Arleen Huffman
Arleen Huffman Member Since July 2008 Artist Statement Hello! My name is Arleen Huffman. I'm a self taught artist and I live in the beautiful state of Washington.
I love expression! One way that I do that has always been by drawing and painting. I began to get serious about it around 2001, as I felt led to create images that expressed the Lord's heart and what He has spoken to me. Most of my creations turn out with very bright colors and usually have some sort of story or allegory attached to them. I love a variety of different art forms and am hoping to create some different styles. I enjoy collage, watercolor, abstract as well as very real looking images. My medium is primarily acrylics and I often incorporate a lot of 3-D texture and objects into my paintings. I'm looking forward to experimenting more with watercolor, it doesn't smell as bad.
I hope the works you see here inspire and bless you, as well stir up your own imagination.
