Artist Statement

I'm a blue collar renaissance woman.

I ride bicycles, create bicycle races; I head up the fundraising effort for my fraternity; I write database code for an insurance management group; I play guitars and flutes; I source artisan jewelry for non-traditional piercings for private clients. I've raced cars, I've bicycle messengered, I've worked in a factory and as a non-profit civil liberties staffer. I've survived floods, fires, locusts (okay, it was a grasshopper invasion), tumors, a few hit-and-runs, and the Dot Com Bust. I love my family and friends, my boyfriend, my kitty cats, the Chicago White Sox, and new ideas and data. I despise the incurious, the inflexible, and the willfully ignorant.

I don't write enough.

I don't believe in art per se; I don't see metaphor in imagery, but I do think it's pretty and I like pretty pictures. I like playing with context. I enjoy big greasy dirty images of things that have been worn and used and loved and destroyed. I love scrutinizing the mundane.
