Artist Statement I'm 18 and was born and raised in south Florida. I've always loved making art, but my preferred career choice from the age of 8 to 16 was to become a pastry chef. One day I guess I just realized how miserable I would be with that life so, in my last year of high school I transferred to a performing and visual arts school. From there I was accepted to go to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago which was my main reasoning for moving to the mid west. I also felt that a city like chicago would be more inspiring than where I was.
My work (specifically my drawings and paintings) is heavily influenced by my other passion in life; music. and I really feel that if I didn't have music in my life, I wouldn't have the motivation to create art.
Currently, I am taking a leave of absence from SAIC and plan to return in the fall. In the mean time, I am working on the second annual salon des refuse art show in ft. lauderdale (a show i created last year) and am also working on a few artist books which i plan to sell at quimby's in chicago (or atleast leave a few in local cafes and record shops).
