Artist Statement First, please remember I am a painter, not a writer.

I don't like the term "self-taught" because that would imply that no one has influenced my art. In actuality, everyone and everything I see, hear, read, etc. influences me as a person and ultimately, my art.

I am the only person I know who had spent 3 years of my college education registered as an art major, and never managed to take an art class.

In a nut shell, here's my biography as I see it:

I grew up in northeast Mississippi, graduated high school, went to college at the University of Southern Mississippi. I decided that college wasn't the thing for me at the time, so I joined the US Navy. I saw the world, and lived in wonderful places. I came home to Mississippi, married a local guy, and we have two fantastic children.

I have learned many things, I have forgotten many things. I have done things I shouldn't have, and failed to do things I should have. I have seen things I never want to see again, and have not seen nearly enough of others. I know enough to know I don't know enough.

All are influences in my art.
