Artist Statement Aside from a few art classes I had taken as electives way back when I really haven't had any formal education in art or photography. But I have had a creative nature all my life.

There were many years passed that I look back on now wishing I had utilized even those pocket cameras I left laying on the shelf until some special event took place in which I took pictures that I can't even explain anymore. And yet I rarely had a camera handy when I was traveling in the Navy. I did get a few pictures of Antarctica and a handful of them on the small island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.

A few years ago my new wife encouraged me to spend part of a bonus check for a digital camera. Had she known how much of my time would be taken up with taking pictures and working with them on the computer I wonder if she would have been so insistant that I get that camera.

I've spent the better part of the last 3 years taking pictures of diseased or disfigured trees for the sole purpose of searching for hidden faces in the patterns of bark and woodgrain..... much of what I will be posting on this site will be a result of that search. But there will be some digital paintings and typical pictures to be posted as well.

I don't know if anything I've done truly deserves to be placed on the same pages as some of the wonderful artwork I've viewed on here today... but I can only hope it will be received well.
