Artist Statement First off I will have to say that I am a little eclectic in my subject matter, which ranges from wildlife to aviation, and portraits to tractors, and other things in the middle. I paint realistically, most of the time, but I’m working to loosen my approach and allow a little more freedom to develop in my paintings. Here's a little bit of useless trivia for you!! My ratio of small brushes to large is about 5:1… I just can't seem to get past those little brushes. Time to turn the hat around and let the paint fly with the big brushes!
At age 11, I began formal art lessons, learning the basics. From there I moved into pastels, then on to oils. In 1993 I graduated from college with a B.S in Commercial Art and a minor (well it really wasn't a minor... but I took ALOT of studio art classes!!) in studio art. Since graduation, I've entered several art shows had several solo exhibitions. I works in several different mediums, including graphite, pen and ink, watercolor, and dabble in acrylic, my love is, as it always has been, oils.
I will say there is nothing like painting and being an artist. Describing how that feels would be difficult at best, but I hope that you will be able to see in my art what I feel when creating.
