Description Maynard Dixon was an artist of the Early Twentieth century. His paintings defined the expansive landscapes of Arizona. I saw this sunset that is located in the Saguaro National forest and It reminded me of so many of his paintings. I tried to capture the spirit of his painting in mine. This is an original work of art it's just contains some of the same feelings evoked in me when I viewed Dixon's paintings.
Kevin McCain, Boise Member Since June 2011 Artist Statement I am a professional artist and children's book illustrator. In my paintings I use vibrant colors and thick impasto to give my paintings a life and vitality that capture the viewer’s attention. I strive for a dreamy quality to my paintings. To make them more reminiscent of memories rather than an illustration of a particular scene. The impression of the landscape is more important than the actual content.
