Artist Statement Kerry Garvey is a painter, sculptor and photographer. His painting includes work in landscape, portrait, abstraction and figurative genres. His style is characterized by a unique handling of impasto textures, combined with glazes in rich oil colours. His sculptural works are comprised of found objects or assemblages of throw away materials, often industrial waste or by products, transformed through processes of tradition (carving, painting, and gilding) and ritual (burning, and composting).

"The image of our world always seems to elude our definitions; as soon as we define it or make a conclusion as to its nature, what we see seems to change." It is that protean nature of perception that inspires Kerry's artistic enquiry.
