Description Original oil painting on canvas created 1986. Title of painting is Psychodynamics.Had to use a poorly taken photo of this painting since I no longer have this work, passed on. Photo was scanned onto computer and touch up editing included with Corel Painter. The artwork here is rather crude and basic in application. The emphasis with this image was intended to emphasize expression. You see a woman on the left side and a man on the right side of the foreground. In between them you see another man on hands and knees with head cast downward wrapped in what appears to be something constraining the head. On his back is a round shaped object that was intended to be the world as it would appear from outer space. The expression here was that this human is symbolically carrying the weight of the world on his back. On the left side the woman has within her hand what appears behind her back an object shaped like a cross. This was intended to symbolize a belief in God or religion. On the right side the man shape has within his hand behind him the image of an object that was intended to be a symbol of technological progress in a gadget form. The man was intended to have a scientific silhouette shape that was futuristic. You see the man and woman moving in opposite directions to symbolize how technology and theology are moving further apart and causing conflict with on another. You will notice throughout the ground level of the painting silhouettes of people that appear to be inside of holes. This was intended to symbolize the ever fast pace changes in science and technology that would leave people drowning, and unable to keep up. Right behind all these drowning people you see what appears to be a movie stereotype of an alien spacecraft with three objects that were intended to look like robots. They are behind all the drowning people and were intended to symbolize a form of life that would be able to stay out of the drowning holes yet not
Stephen Lo Piano, Rochester, New York Member Since October 2008 Artist Statement I have been interested in art since high school back in the late 1960's when I took up career training for commercial art. Continued learning traditional media artwork through a private school by mail correspondence for Advertising and Illustration Art. During the mid and late 1970's decided to abandoned my interest in finding a career in art since nothing was leading to anything that would create substantial income to make a living. Continued education in the military and after service pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. During this time my sights were still set on continuing art on available time and spent many hours working in volunteer activities while attending junior college along with an art gallery in the local community. Started free lancing again in the 1980's while employed full time in another occupation and sold a few things yet still nothing for a permanent career. In the year 2004 after ten years of no productivity in art I stumbled across graphic arts and started to learn this type of technology. Since then I have found a sincere interest in learning and pursuing through trial and error and practice on my own time. Here in this gallery you will see a sample of my results.
