For Artist Carla Goldberg, memories and her connectedness to the past are expressed in her artwork as a physical manifestation of time. Goldberg's works are ever rooted in childhood memory of water. Her new series of drawings based on the memory of sea foam on the edge of a beach reminds her of summer retreats with her Father's family on the Jersey Shore and winter treks with her Grandparents to the California Coastline, Hawaii and other world ports. Goldberg meticulously draws hundreds of thousands of dots on multi-layered water-like surfaces forming continuous lines of looping white ink, which becomes sculptural as light and shadow pass through her work and become part of the experience. The delicate, lacy, sea foam drawings act as a synaptic matrix holding a dreamy memory suspended in ethereal light and shadow.

Artist Statement Carla Goldberg is a full-time professional Mixed-Media Fine Artist, Gallery Director and Curator. Originally from Palm Springs, California she has made New York her home since the 90's. She works primarily with resins and ink on glass and acrylic panels. Her imagery explores water and memory concepts in one form or another combining non-traditional, industrial materials with traditional art mediums where her inventiveness pushes her materials constantly into new forms. The resulting work is intricate, delicate and ethereal.
Carla Goldberg graduated with honors from the University of Redlands, Johnston Center, California where she studied under esteemed L.A. based figurative painter John Nava and earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from (MICA) Mount Royal Graduate School of Art. There she studied under noted museum artist Salvatore Scarpitta, best known for his sculptural studies of movement. She has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally in museums, universities and galleries. Examples include The Tabernacle MoMA Wales, The Brooklyn Waterfront Museum and the Dolmabahce Palace (State Gallery) Istanbul, Turkey. Most recently she exhibited with Tria Gallery and Denise Bibro Fine Art, both in NYC with upcoming exhibits with Good Question Gallery in Chelsea and Kunstleben Gallery, in Berlin. Her solo exhibition at Southwest Minnesota State University Art Museum resulted in the acquisition of her work into their permanent collection.
