Description Inspired by a Buddhist story of the Buddha's conversation with this son Rahula, who also became a monk. The refrain is 'Rahula, be like the......., and he uses imagery such as water, earth etc. And it continues '...develop meditation that is like water, and then arising agreeable or disagreeable contacts will not invade your mind and remain. Just as people wash dirty things...in water and the water is not repelled, humiliated and disgusted because of that...so too Rahula develop meditation that is like water.' This teaching has inspired me to try to develop equanimity through my meditation so that it is a trait one can then have in dealing with lifes ups and downs.
