Description The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17F was first flown in January 1950 and was known to NATO as 'Fresco.' The MiG-17 is an extensively upgraded MiG-15 with a redesigned wing and lengthened fuselage. The 17 saw service with the USSR, Warsaw Pact nations, and with other nations such as Afghanistan, Cuba, Egypt, Iraq, North Korea and North Vietnam. During the Vietnam war, MiG's would do battle with F-100 Super-Sabre and F-105 Thunderchief fighter-bombers of the U.S. Air Force.
