Artist Statement Jim Donahue, a.k.a. Trailwalker, is a 61 year old self taught nature and occasionally studio photographer from Maine. He enjoys playing with his camera and discovering what it can do for his viewing audience. His avatar is a selfie he took during his 1998 thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail.

“I've been told that I have the ability to 'see things'. Instead of this statement causing me to feel the need to set up another appointment with my psychiatrist, I just explain my work this way. When I'm searching for a subject to photograph I always try to see my surroundings as if I'm looking through a child's eyes. By doing this, everything becomes a new experience that's begging to be explored and hopefully photographed in a unique way.”

“Even though I use Photoshop to process my photos, none of my work is created on a computer. Each piece comes from a photograph that I have taken with my very basic equipment - an 18mp Canon Rebel that I purchased used, a couple department store tripods, a few simple props that I find around the house, and absolutely no lens filters.”

“When I'm not outdoors discovering something new I will respond to any questions or comments emailed to me.” – jimdonahuephotoart@yahoo.com
