Artist Statement When I was young I was exposed to a number of things that helped to shape me as an artist. My father had a love of photography, and throughout my youth gave to me some of his knowledge of the art of it, and its primary instrument. Growing up, I found myself often framing things in my mind, and looking for what would make a great shot.

We would travel as a family across the midwest, and along the way in those car trips, I was exposed to the music of composers like Philip Glass, John Adams, Steve Reich and others. We both shared a similar taste for these composers, and I enjoyed sharing that with him. Both him and my mother sat myself and my brother down to watch the movie Koyaanisqatsi when we were only young children. That movie greatly affected me, and had an impact on how I have viewed life throughout my experience of it from that point onwards.

Over time, I developed a love of music composition, and allowed that to be increasingly a part of my life. For a long time, I let go of photography entirely, allowing music to be my only focus, and it was all I pursued up until not long ago.

When my father passed away, I decided it was time to carry the torch. My love of photography reignited. I found the joy I always remembered having of it when I was young, and it felt like I was carrying some part of his life with me. And so here I am on imagekind, and I would like to share my work with you.
