Description Samurai Yoshida Chuzaemon Kanesuke by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861), master of ukiyo-e style of Japanese woodblock prints. Yoshida was, like many other samurai, an accomplished poet. Here he is pointing with a jin-sen, a battle fan used by warriors in Kabuki theatre. The banner on his sleeve identifies him as one of the faithful ronin, a retainer of Lord Asano.
