Artist Statement I never ever chose to be an artist...I simply knew, all my life, that I was to become an artist. My father, Mike McCrickard, is also an artist. When I was about 4 years old, I used to draw copies of his sketches in his sketch book. My younger brother would then draw copies of my sketches. It's pretty hilarious to look back now at my dad's old sketch book and see his sketch...then on the opposite page would be my copy, then somewhere else on the page would be my 3 year old brother's copy of mine. (Of course I thought my drawings were just as good as my dad's, but that my brother's were terrible....Such youthful confidence I had....! )

Now here I am some 30 (to 40) odd years later and I am still an artist. I received my BFA from the University of Tennessee. I began my professional career in Atlanta in graphic arts. About ten years later, I returned to my first love and began painting the always colorful, and sometimes whimsical art for which I have become known. I feel very blessed and extremely lucky to be doing what I love. It's a gift...for certain...but also a curse in some ways, for anything worth doing can also be tremendously frustrating as well....and all the other artists out there who read this know just what I mean.

I hope you enjoy viewing my art as much as I enjoy (except for the frustrating days) creating it.....someone once told me that when they look at my artwork , it makes them smile. That's the greatest compliment that I could have.
