Artist Statement I was born in 1964 in Mangystau region of Kazakhstan. I’ve been doing photography since my childhood. My first camera was the good old “Smena – 8M”. As a teenager, walking on the Caspian Sea coast, I often admired the beauty of the sea and rocks, and this inspired me to take pictures of landscapes. I still remember how, locked up in a dark room, in a red light, I printed photos. Being self-taught, I persistently learned to take pictures. I read magazines and searched book stalls for magazines about photography.

As a photographer who focuses on fine art landscape photography, I seek remote places, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Visiting these remote places is an inspiration for me, where I get to relax completely, appreciate and capture the incredible beauty of our nature. I try to convey, via my pictures, the feeling that I experience and the wonder that I have when I see such beauty in nature.
I have visited many beautiful places in Kazakhstan. I often travel to the Ustyurt plateau, which in my opinion, is a home to some of the most incredible landscapes on Earth, and to the Caspian Sea.

I am very self-critical and am always in the look-out for ways of further professional development. The main genre that I concentrate on is ethnic culture, urban and landscape photos. Currently, I use Nikon D800 and Nikon D850 cameras with different lenses.

In my professional life I have participated in many photo exhibitions, competitions and expeditions. I am also a member of the public associations “PhotoOner” and “TEFA EURAZIAPHOTO”, and a member of the national photo club “Splav”. From 2016 till present, I have been working as the chief photographer for the Kazakh Edition of National Geographic Magazine.
