Artist Statement Jim Spiece was born in Wabash, Indiana in 1946 and graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1969. He began his career with Ogilvy & Mather Advertising in New York City in the early 1970s. Later he returned to Indiana to open his own commercial art studio, Spiece Graphics.

Jim was a logo and typeface designer as well as an illustrator. He worked with many clients locally and nationally including Frances Slocum Bank, Bertsch Foodservice, ABC Publishing, International Typeface Corporation, Monotype Corporation, R. R. Donnelley, U.S. News & World Report, Ziff Davis Media, and The Wall Street Journal Europe. Hel ived in Ft. Wayne with his wife, Glenda.

Jim revived such classic typefaces as ITC Blair, Bernhard Gothic and Eve for the publishing trade as well as created stand-alone originals such as El Castillo, Kingsbury Condensed Book and Mingo Gothic. His portfolio of stock illustrations and digital typefaces can be found online at:
