Artist Statement Welcome to Whimsical Rabbit Design - My name is Lois Dahl and I've been wrestling with some sort of art-making material since elementary school - which was a really long time ago. I wish I could say that I've seen and studied in exotic places throughout the world, but in reality my art education consists of fits and starts of experimentation on my own, occasionally studying with various extremely accomplished artists from whom I've hoped to absorb talent via osmosis.

I don't have a deep philosophy about what I paint, although certain themes keep recurring, so there may be an emotional metaphor in there somewhere. My materials currently include transparent watercolor and gouache on hot and cold press paper, acrylic on board, pastels and oil stick. I think of myself as a "shape painter" regardless of the materials in my hand. I'm fascinated by the way shapes intertwine and overlap. My compositions vary from complex puzzles of intricate shapes to simple images cropped to the edge of abstraction.

I'm a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and exhibit and sell my greeting cards and paintings throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Thanks for your interest in my work. I'm very glad to be able to be a part of the Imagekind art community.
