Artist Statement I have come back to painting after a long brake. I work with Batik because of the magical hold it has on me. The first time I used this technique was when I studied art. This is when I fell in love with Batik. The dye moves through the fabric on its own in an almost magical way. When the dye meets another, it creates a new color. These colors change throughout the process. While the dye is wet, when it dries, when it’s ironed and finally when it is washed. Because of this, when first starting it makes it very difficult to predict how the work will look in the end.
