Description Since I was a child, I've been fascinated by Native American culture, their respect for nature and their worldview that all life is connected and deserves care. The Sundance is a sacred religious ceremony that is undertaken by one or more persons for the greater good of all, and the dancer is supported by the prayers of the whole community. Our society is being rocked by repeated acts of violence that hurt us all, so I offer this painting in the hope that we will think and pray as a community for the greater good of all. This painting began as a collage of watercolor pieces that were mounted on canvas and overpainted in acrylic and oil.
Gina Lazarchik, Largo, FL Member Since May 2021 Artist Statement As an artist, I often use collage and layered paint--watercolor, oil and cold wax--to express different layers of experience. My work includes abstract, landscape and figurative pieces, as well as modern Christian art. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Florida, and the tropical theme is the inspiration for many of my landscapes. I believe that Imagekind can help me to broaden the exposure of my work and allow me to interact with the community of my fellow artists.
