Artist Statement A portrait of the artist as a young mathematician:

I recall having great difficulty with math in grade school, and I still remember a very late night with my mom and a times table ...finally getting the key insight that "a times b" is always "b times a".

In high school I did a bit better, and finally fell in love with the subject in grade 11 and 12, due to a very gifted teacher. In University, I took Mathematics and Computer Science, where I learned that "a times b" is NOT always "b times a". At university, I was also enlightened by Escher, and fractals, and many other aspects of mathematical beauty.

I've dabbled with visual mathematics off and on for most of the decade since then. These images are the result of my recreational explorations, since 2001, into color equations. To see a full definition of color equations and many other images, see my web site.
