Artist Statement I was one of those children who was always drawing, and then I discovered designing. Clothes, shoes... then houses and their floor-plans. Photography was a natural extension of this, but getting my first camera took many years of pestering. I received my first camera when about aged 13, and proceeded to take many photos- which mostly all featured my finger in the bottom left corner, nicely obliterating the image and faces of my friends and family. My parents were less than impressed with my photographic skills, especially as developing these gems was seen as very expensive, and they were paying to see multiple images of my blurred finger, so my career as a photographer was delayed until the digital camera came along.

In the meantime, I went to art college, became a high school art teacher (and PE teacher, too, as we are required to have 2 areas of skills when teaching in high schools), and have continued to learn about composition, light and how to hold the camera to most effectively capture the desired image and exclude the undesirable objects. !

I am on the start of a wonderful journey, where I see our world through fresh eyes, but also through the eyes of our Creator. Yet, although I love beauty and will now go out of my way to capture beautiful images, I find the subjects of decay and capturing their poignancy to be just as extremely powerful.

Please enjoy the images here and remember to take time to do what your heart is telling you to do.

I am.
