Artist Statement An artist is not born, nor is he made; instead, he becomes, through the formation of ideas which are themselves borne through his life experience and his interaction with them. Churchill once remarked about opportunities, and about how people usually pick themselves up after they have tripped ove them, dust themselves off and continue on their merry way as if nothing had happened. Buddhism, similarly, opines that "when the student is ready, the teacher will appear." Thus do the ingredients of an artist arrange themselves, and if the environment is propitious, then great things can come.

For myself, I am the son of an accomplished artist, who is herself scion of that great Welsh house whose ancestors have included the Kings of ancient Cymru. Not that I claim any royal or, indeed, noble priviledges myself, but it does engender a love of country - but not just Wales, for before the subjugation of the Lloegr by the Angles and the Saxons, the Jutes and the Danes all of Brython was one, albeit tribal, land. And it is that ancient land which draws me for inspiration, its rich history, its customs, its legends, its pantheons.

Thus I come to you; in paint, both acrylic but, more importantly, in oils. Sculpture, too, has my attention in various forms, as do music, prose, prosody and theatre, 'though obviously the visual art forms take their turn through this particular site.
