Artist Statement Michael Conrad McHenry
Born October 9, 1973 in Coatsville Pennsylvania of Kenneth Earl McHenry and Darlene Marie Dyabelko McHenry. At the early age of 2, Michaels parents divorced leaving him raised primarily by his grandparents Harry Conrad and Ella Irma McHenry of Pheonixville Pa. The family moved to the Elverson Pa. area in 1976. Here Michael attended the Twin Valley School District until the eighth grade. Here he won many awards through grade school clearly revealing his talent in the art field.

From Elverson, Michael moved to western Pennsylvania with his father for a brief 2 years. He attended Jamestown Jr Sr High school where he continued winning art awards in the county fair and state competitions. A pastel piece won first place in area, county and regional competitions, later placing second in a state competition and landing the piece in the Reading Art Museum. Michael was the youngest in the competition ranging from 13 to 18 year old artists.

Before starting the 10th grade Michael moved to Annville Pa. and was raised to adulthood by Michael and Kathleen Dyabelko, his uncle and aunt. Here, Michael proved his talent worthy of recognition numerous times by winning local competions and displaying his art in shows as well as being voted class artist by the class of 1991. Michael continued his education by winning a full scholarship to Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts, overcoming nearly 400 applicants from the eastern seaboard.

Michael worked in retail management for a music company and as an artist for Hershey Entertainment and Resort Company until 1994 when his art took him down another road. His cousin begged him to go to a local tattoo studio to take a position offered by the owner (who was not an artist). Within one month Michael was tattooing professionally on clients then running the studio within six months. Being paid very little for all the work, Michael decided to open his own studio. This took Michael from Pennsylvania to Arizona for 5 years, and Arizona to Florida for 1 year. From Florida, Michael returned to Pennsylvania and opened his studio in Columbia PA in 2000. In 2002, he returned to other forms of art as well as opening a second studio for photography and fine art. Since, Michael has won numerous awards at shows and competitions and has sold his work internationally as well as in 41 of the 50 states. Being published in different magazines, Michael has attracted clients from all around the country as well as from Canada, Mexico, England, Germany and Italy

Michael specializes in realism including human figure, nudes and portraits in the form of fine art, mixing different mediums. Michael also continues to operate his tattoo studio where he employs three very talented, younger artists.
