Artist Statement Primarily trained as a painter I've always had an interest in tradional 'women's' handcrafts. Quilts, embroidery tell the social story the life at a time when women were not politically powerful. My work of recent years has been focused on producing my own craft work in the form peyotestitch beadwork. This ancient and time intensive craft is beautiful in its own context but when the images are enlarged and fractured the seed beads tell a different story. One of power, of human strength and the timeless beauty available at our own fingertips.
Craft has always had important role in my painting.
I have included work from my last 25 years of exhibiting across Canada.
I have hearned a Diploma of Fine Art and Bachelor's of Fine art, and numerous scholarships .
