Artist Statement I was born on June 6, 1968 in the city of Cuernavaca, in Southern Mexico, the second of five children. For most of my childhood we kept moving cities nearly every year, following my father's job in construction engineering, that also kept him on the move, and in those years I had the joy of knowing most of Northern Mexico. When I was 12 my folks decided that it was about time that we settled down and we moved back to Cuernavaca. It was then that I started sculpting.

When I was 20 I decided to enter the local arts school at my hometown. It was an introductory arts school associated with the INBA (National Institute for Fine Arts). There I met my mentor, Alejo Jacobo, who was also my best friend for the following 23 years until he passed away. Soon after I entered school I moved my field of interest from sculpture to painting, and I dedicated most of my time to it until the year 2000, when I started working a little on jewelry design and publicity. In 2004 I was hired as a 3d animation artist by a local TV production company. From 2004 until 2012 I dedicated most of my time to creating CG art for our three local TV programs, but as time went by I started growing restless about painting and finally in April 2012 I decided that I needed to go back to painting soon if I wanted to get a chance to make a living from it again.

The paintings that you'll see here are the paintings that I've made ever since. Most of them are quite related with the things that I was painting back in the late 1990s and early in this century, but they are all the production of the last couple years.
