Description 11x15 Watercolor; The San Gabriel Convent in Cholula, the initial structures were started in 1529, presumably an open chapel and large atrium with four corner chapels, with pinnacle roofs and simple arches. It surrounded by perimeters painted bright-yellow walls, with pointed merlons, which separates the church from the main plaza in Cholula. The church was built by the Spanish on a site that previously had a temple dedicated to a pre-Columbian deity. The convent was designed in the Plateresque style, a design popular in Spain and its colonies in the 15th and 16th centuries.A part of the bell tower and some of the merlons were knocked loose in the 2017 earthquake.
