Artist Statement I've never made a living from art but art has always had a place in my life.

From the the day I took a pencil to the back of an envelope and discovered that Donald Duck was actually nothing more than a of series lines placed in the right order, I was fascinated by what else those lines might conjure.

I studied art and its theory until leaving high school, but in Joh Bjelke-Petersen's Queensland any further aspirations for a career in the arts seemed as futile and fanciful as that new-fangled daylight-saving everyone was talking about.

I just assumed everyone saw dragons in the clouds and fairies in the patterns on the bathroom tiles and had a bunch of unfinished canvases taking up space in the garage

But there were always other priorities. A young family and a job that took me to every far-flung corner of the world. Art had to find its place in whatever gaps were left between travel kids and career.

But thanks to the digital age I now have a growing portfolio and a lot more time for art.

I'm also a 54-year-old father of two talented daughters and a son soon to finish high school. Apart from a recent heart scare I live a life of serenity on Sydney's northern beaches.

I surf whenever I can.
