Description 'Our newest painting, the surfer, acryl on canvas, 80x100cm, is the result of many journeys and many hours watching surfers riding the waves, all over the world. It was during my roadtrip from San Francisco to Los Angeles, the famous Pacific Coast Highway, going through Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Santa Monica, Santa Barbara and so on, when I first encountered surfers, no matter what time of the day. They were out, waiting for the waves to come. It fascinated me from the beginning and I was watching them as long as possible. I wasnt a surfer back then, and I ain`t one today. I tried to learn it in Conil, in Andalucia, Spain. I wasnt really successful, the weather was not perfect for a beginner, monster waves on one day, no waves at all on the other. But I always was very fascinated and wanted at least to paint a nice scene with a surfer in a blue tube. Most of you will know, that surfing is indeed a very old sport, dating back thousands of years, being very important for culture and spirit - back then and also now. Surfing was probably ''invented'' by Polynesians and then later came to more fame on Hawaii - and then it came to California and with all the possbilties and the movie and star industry it spread its culture and mindset all over the world. If you want to dive into surfing, without getting wet, and go for just reading about it, books from Kem Nunn and Don Winslow get you a really great feeling.'
