Description Watercolor, 15 x 11. This drawing was captured during my trip to Gulangyu Island, off the coast of Xiamen City in China. The Island is known as The Island of Music and 'The Town of Pianos'. With the transmission of Christianity in the middle of 19th century, western music was introduced into Gulangyu Island gradually, combing with the graceful living atmosphere and forming the traditional music style on the island. There are many accomplished musicians from the Island and there will be more to come. Gulangyu has the most pianos per capita in the world, averaging one in every five families.
