Artist Statement They call me The Storyteller Artist,™ and I am honored.

While “Storyteller” has become my trademark, my journey did not begin with the pursuit of a nickname or title. It evolved during a life rich in experiences that have provided purpose for me to use my God-given gifts. My art has always been a means by which I could bring joy to those who collect my work, as well as to this artist herself.

As with countless fellow equine artists, my career’s inception was in crayon scribbles as a toddler and my lifelong passion for horses. Both must surely have been programmed into my very DNA. I grew up fascinated by my grandfather’s memories of traveling West by mule drawn covered wagon, and of his youth spent driving cattle along the Chisholm Trail. A love of writing was born as my imagination carried me right along beside him.

My ambition, to capture in oils the likeness of individual horses for their owners, was fulfilled beginning in the late ‘60’s and continues to this day as I am privileged to paint commissioned portraits of some of the country's finest equines. For more than twenty-five years my knowledge of horses was honed through my wholehearted involvement in raising and showing my own.

Branching into Western and Equine Fine Art, the seeds of a new dream took root. The desire to paint images straight from my heart, and to tell the story behind those works, became a driving force. In 2005 the first two prints in The Storyteller Series,™ “King Of His Domain” and “Chip Off The Ol’ Block” were released to an overwhelming response. New works are on my easel constantly, and fresh ideas fill my mind faster than I can paint them.

I am grateful to God, my family, my friends and to all the collectors of my work. The name of my studio, which may be viewed at www.anngarlough.com, reflects years filled with both blessings and challenges. I have indeed come Full Circle. I am content, at complete peace, and doing with my life what I know God always intended me to do. No one can ask for more.
