Description 'Tunnelvision' is a 50 foot by 75 foot mural in Columbia, SC by American artist, Blue Sky. Born in 1938, he legally changed his name from Warren Edward Johnson to Blue Sky in 1974. In 1975 this internationally acclaimed and award winning 'trompe 'oeil' mural was finished after a dangerous year of working from a personally designed and self made scaffold dubbed the 'sky-car'.

Artist Statement "Tunnelvision" is a 50 foot by 75 foot mural in Columbia, SC by American artist, Blue Sky. Born in 1938, he legally changed his name from Warren Edward Johnson to Blue Sky in 1974. In 1975 this internationally acclaimed and award winning "trompe l'oeil" mural was finished after a dangerous year of working from a personally designed and self made scaffold dubbed the "sky-car". (as seen above) Shortly after completion, it appeared in People Magazine and arguably spawned murals across the country and around the world. In 1978 the General Services Administration (GSA) commissioned him to create a mural for a federal building. The rendition for this award winning mural is now in the Smithsonian. "Tunnelvision" appears in museum catalogs and publications around the world, most recently at the Nationalmuseum in Sweden and an upcoming book in Amsterdam. Blue Sky's studio work is included in numerous museums and hundreds of public and private collections. Classified historically as a Post-War artist who always painted realism, ignoring the Abstract movement, Blue Sky continues to paint landscapes and urban themes making his living solely from his fine art as he has since 1970.
