Artist Statement When the truck crashed into my car, life crashed into me.
Nothing made me more conscious of being alive, then tumbling on the edge of death. As soon as I could sit up in a wheelchair, I wanted to capture my existence. Purification of my living self, true actual hours of labor resulted into paintings of my adoration of the here and now. Fashion is always now! Tomorrow it will be replaced. I paint my love for fashion like much Dutch painters did centuries before me. I hide a symbolic message in every work in a way a Dutch master is supposed to. I enjoy every moment where I can see and feel the fabrics, and find the light that is only there and then in the eyes and on the skin of my muses.
