Description Little Soul series found object 'mosaic.' Tree of Purification reminds me of Christ, and the delicate filigreed box at the end of the pearls reminds me of incense swung in churches, but also of a Bible. The pearls themselves seem to symbolize wisdom. I feel this piece is extremely powerful because it also illustrates the concept of forgiveness that God forgives us personally, and as a society, for all of the heinous acts we commit out of ignorance, acts that we may consider godly at the time we commit them.Includes: wood, broken ceramic dishes, glass, tile, faux pearl necklace, stones, beads, faux gems
Sondra Sula, Fort Bragg, CA Member Since June 2008 Artist Statement Painting is my first love - I've been influenced by German Expressionism and Fauvism. Emotion through the use of color is very important to me. I adore extreme, brilliant color and have a preference for figurative work. I've been painting for many years, have been in over 40 shows, and have had previous representation with galleries in Chicago and Santa Fe. I am now with a gallery in Elk, California.
I work in several forms of art including photography, oil pastel and "Little Souls" which are found-object mosaic-like pieces, that serve as small framed shrines. Creativity is a gift to be enjoyed by those who create and those who observe - ENJOY!
Make sure to visit all of my galleries. I'll be adding new work on a regular basis. Thank you for visiting!
