Artist Statement I paint landscapes, still life and portraits in acrylics, oils, watercolors and pastels. I am very influenced by the Impressionists, particularly Claude Monet and Alfred Sisley. I enjoy painting landscapes outside, to capture the fleeting effects of the light on the landscape as the Impressionists did. I find that a certain softness of the light inspires me, whether it is the cool bright glow of a misty morning or the warm dusk of a sunset. I love to paint scenes of water, such as bridges, lily pads on a tranquil pond or boats on a river. My waterscapes seek to convey the peace that can be found from contemplating the reflections and gentle movements or stillness of water. Floral still life is also another favorite subject matter for me. I enjoy making dramatic compositions in my still life paintings to convey the intense colors in juxtapositions of fruits and flowers.
