Kat Viva (Katja Viventsova) studied fine art in Russia, and has presented her work at exhibits in Russia, Norway, Finland and Sweden. Her watercolor "After Skiing" appeared on the cover of "The Northern Review" in 1999. Kat gave Art Classes to fellow cancer patients at the Regional Cancer Centre in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Kat is also an accomplished international scientist. She has given invited lectures on the environmental impacts of pollution in Canada, Scotland and other countries.

Diagnosed with brain cancer in May 2007, Kat endured four brain surgeries and many other treatments. Through all this, she continued to paint and sketch her visions of the beauty in nature and people, and the emotions of her struggle.
