Description Cape Liptrap Limestone Kiln, Walkerville South, Victoria, Australia. This is a small coastal park, 160kms SE of Melbourne, where a small community once worked producing Lime for the Melbourne building industry from 1875 to 1926. This park contains a number of stunning, rocky coves, with golden sandy beaches and stretches of rugged cliff. There are many signs of the once thriving Limestone industry, from grave sites, to ruined lime kilns and jetty ruins.
David Humphreys, Melbourne Member Since June 2007 Artist Statement Originally from the U.K., I relocated to the Southern Hemisphere in 1993. This beautiful, diverse and relatively strange new environment rekindled my interest in photography and the transfer to digital capture proved to be an added fillip.
I find photography the perfect excuse for getting outside and savouring the beauty of this world after a reasonably drastic change in lifestyle from rural to urban.
