Description My daughter Wren really likes penguins, and she wanted me to paint one. But then I found out she was learning to draw penguins in school, so I asked her to draw several for me, and I would incorporate some into the painting. She was very excited to do this. I chose a pair she drew, enlarged them a little on the copier, and then transferred the drawing to my watercolor paper. Wren practiced coloring them on paper before getting the look she wanted, and then she (nervously) colored them on the canvas with Crayola markers. Perfect.I had this idea of, Youre not from around here, are you? The title reflects my absurd sense of humor and comes, in part, from the Blackadders Christmas Carol, when Prince Albert accompanies Queen Victoria on the annual rewarding of the good outing. They are in disguise, sort of, and Blackadder notes Alberts odd (German) accent and says, Youre not from around these parts. Albert replies, Nein, I am from Glas-gow. I find this funny, and I also find the thought of Glaswegian penguins to be hilarious. Hence the title.
