Artist Statement The first time I remember holding a camera was at the age of twelve, when I had just landed with my family in India to live for a year. This experience made me want to record life and my place within it. I have been doing photography almost as long as I can remember and I currently teach studio lighting and color photography at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. I have many facets of photography training including portraits, fashion, landscapes, editorial, commercial and fine art. Since I have so many different areas of training, I like to constantly challenge myself to come up with new ideas and try out new things to keep photography interesting and fun. I bring that same enthusiasm when I work with clients trying to give them their vision of themselves instead of just my interpretation. This includes hours of time after every shoot retouching, tweaking the color and generally making sure that every detail is perfect for them.
My other love is traveling, and I always have a camera with me, usually two or three that do different things. I have been told in the past that I have an "escapist personality" and I think that perfectly describes my travel work. Since I live in Michigan in the land of snow and clouds, I like my travel work to stimulate the senses. I want to make you feel the sand between your toes, the warmth of the sun on your face and the sense of wonderment that you get when seeing something amazing for the very first time. I do hope you enjoy.
