Description A number of years ago, my Uncle Jim and his lifelong friend Ian Fleming gave me a very old picture of a little girl they and their families all adopted during one of their secret escapades somewhere in the South China Sea. The photo had 1948 scrawled on the back and mention of a convent where the youngster grew up the photo and their tale inspired this painting which is my wedding gift to Uncle Jim and his new bride (none of us is really sure, but this wife may be his seventh or eighth hes always been a hopeless romantic and is well known in these parts for shouting, Once More Into The Breach as he leaves the wedding party to retire. Heres wishing them well along with a fifty-nine year old cousin whom none of the rest of us has ever met though weve had numerous promises of more photos and letters from her to Jim and Ian Then one day a mysterious box arrived from China inside were the letters and photos of her own family which would have never existed had they not saved her the letters and photos were treasures from their Little China Gal Goes to show the good that even a couple of characters can leave in their wake heres to them both :0)
